Sling Media Demoes Sling Player Mobile for BlackBerry at CES Unveiled

Earlier this year, Sling Media announced they would be working on a version of Sling Player Mobile for BlackBerry. For those unfamiliar with Sling Player, with the purchase of a Slingbox, Sling Player Mobile allows to to control and stream content from your cable box, DVR or TiVo. Basically, you have complete access to your home TV directly from your BlackBerry.

Sling Player requires either WiFi or a 3G wireless data connection. With the release of the BlackBerry Bold and later this week the Storm, both devices are more than capable. In fact, the high resolution screens of the Bold and Storm have Slingbox owners drooling at the idea of Sling Player Mobile for BlackBerry. Hopefully, the wait will not be much longer.

At CES Unveiled, Sling Media has been showing Sling Player Mobile on the new BlackBerry Bold. The app is currently in private beta, but the company originally slated the end of 2008 for a release. Looks good to me. Stay tuned and we'll provide news if the program goes into a public beta.
