Viigo has released an update for their popular (and pretty awesome) RSS reader for the BlackBerry. The latest update promises significant improvements in both memory usage and performance, most notably on the BlackBerry Bold.
Hedone Designs has released a new theme for the BlackBerry Curve 8300 series and BlackBerry 8800 series. HD StormLike TodayPlus is the closest you can get to a Storm look-a-like on your pre-Storm BlackBerry. The HD StormLike theme retails for $7.00 and is available in the Everything Berry Software Store.
Those north of the border will be happy to hear that the BlackBerry Storm is now officially available through Telus. The Blackberry Storm 9530 will set you back $249.99 CA with a 3 year contract or $599.99 with out a contract. The Where GPS application is now available for the BlackBerry Bold. Where comes complete with location based widgets including Starbucks, Gas Buddy, Eventful and Yelp. It's available through the AT&T Media Mall, Where.com, BuiltForBlackBerry.com and The Berry Store. Check out the video below for more info on the new Where app for the Bold. Hopefully, this will be the first of many location based apps.
BlackBerry has released a new firmware update 4.7.0.75 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 for Verizon Wireless. The new update is available via BlackBerry Desktop and promises a host of bug fixes and improvements. The new update reportedly fixes the lag that occurs with the accelerometer when switching between portrait and landscape. UPDATE: This update is now available via BlackBerry Desktop.
You can put away the knives and the screwdrivers, thanks to Brian at CES911. He performed what he calls the "torture test" on the BlackBerry Storm. It appears the screen on the Storm is resistant to scratches. I wouldn't rush to put your Storm in your pocket with a set of keys, but this is encouraging news for the longevity of your BlackBerry.
