For years, Howard Stern has been a devoted Palm user, but more recently he's discussed switching to a new smartphone. Like many consumers, Stern narrowed the field between a BlackBerry and the iPhone 3G. Looking to capitalize on a marketing opportunity, Palm reps went as far as to contact Stern for a private demo of the Palm Pre.

Yet another unofficial BlackBerry Bold OS has been leaked. OS 4.6.0.234 has found it's way to the Interwebs, hot on the heels of OS 4.6.0.228. Standard disclaimer applies: Please install at your own risk. While some improvements might be found, there might also be a few new bugs.

A reader on BGR sent in this screenshot of his bold that includes an icon for Visual Voicemail. That would certainly be a nice feature upgrade if it pans out. Selecting the icon resulted in a "provisioning unsucessful" error, so clearly this is not ready for primetime. The reader was using build 4.6.0.219, a far cry from the official 4.6.0.167 build that is the last official build from AT&T.

Engadget is reporting that according to a well placed source, the BlackBerry Bold will release in a CDMA version on Sprint Wireless. The Sprint version of the BlackBerry Bold will feature EV-DO Rev. A, more memory and a Sprint UI. It's also expected to be a global phone allowing for SIM card usage out of the US.

It's official, SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry will be available as a public beta starting on December 30th. Sling Media announced early in the year they were working on a version for the BlackBerry, but up until now access to the beta was limited. SlingPlayer Mobile allows you to watch and control your home TV and DVR via your Slingbox (sold seperately).
