Blackberry 9000 Accessories

With the release of the BlackBerry 9000, many owners are wondering if they will have to invest in new BlackBerry 9000 accessories or utilize their existing accessories purchased for their previous device. We took a quick look at the specs for the BlackBerry 9000 to see if indeed you'll be able to use your old accessories or be forced to upgrade.

BlackBerry 9000 Memory Expansion

The BlackBerry 9000 will utilize microSD memory cards. Great news if you will be upgrading from either the BlackBerry Curve or BlackBerry 8800. Most of the latest BlackBerry models have moved to the smaller microSD memory cards and the BlackBerry 9000 will be no different.

BlackBerry 9000 Cases

As we outlined in our BlackBerry 9000 Cases overview, the new form factor will represent a challenge for existing owners. If you own a form-fit case, then chances are it will not be compatible with your new BlackBerry 9000. Pouch and organizer cases will most likely fit the new device. Expect RIM to release a bevy of skin and form fit cases when the 9000 is officially available (we are hearing July). You'll most likely want to add to your BlackBerry 9000 Accessory budget for a good case. It's a worthwhile investment to protect your device.

BlackBerry 9000 Accessory Compatibility Chart

RIM hasn't officially announced the specifications, but from what we've gleaned from the interweb, below is a chart of compability of accessories for the BlackBerry 9000.

• Memory : Will work with microSD cards
• Cases: Will not work with form fit cases. Most likely fit universal cases.
• GPS: Has built-in GPS. Will work with GoogleMaps, but tied to AT&T service
• Car Mounts: Still too early to tell, but we expect it will work with existing car mounts.
