The BlackBerry for the Hearing Impaired

While you may not normally consider a wireless handheld device, which is often used as a telephone, to be a convenient and useful device for anyone hard of hearing, the BlackBerry is. In fact, the BlackBerry is designed to be of service to not only people who can hear normally, but for those that are hearing impaired. Because the BlackBerry is so handy, even for people who happen to be deaf or hard of hearing, it is just a testament to the true quality of the product.

The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device that is known for its stable wireless email and SMS text messaging. In fact, many consumers and reviewers claim that the BlackBerry is one of the best handheld wireless devices available today. The BlackBerry makes receiving email messages extremely convenient in that there is never any need to connect to the Internet. The BlackBerry is continuously connected to the Internet and therefore emails are instantly received. All incoming emails are displayed on the screen, as with a pager.

For people that are hearing impaired in anyway, TTY (Text Telephone) is an essential form of communication. With the BlackBerry, there are several wireless relay services that can translate voice to text as well as text to voice. This allows for hearing impaired consumers to use the BlackBerry not only as a wireless device to send and receive emails, but as a telephone as well. Currently, Lormar Logic, AOL Instant Messenger Relay, MCI Wireless IP Relay, and Fuse Wireless are some of the wireless relay services that exist on and can be used with the BlackBerry. These services come standard and therefore it is not necessary to purchase the device from a retailer that specializes in devices for the hearing impaired.

The BlackBerry has an excellent vibrating alert which makes it exceptional for consumers that are hearing impaired. The vibrating alert in the BlackBerry is more powerful than most other cell phones and handheld devices which is an excellent factor. Additionally, the BlackBerry allows for vibrating alert for every feature including incoming emails, incoming calls, incoming SMS messages, alarms and reminders, and even the calendar. A good vibrating alert is essential when the consumer is hearing impaired.

Because you are able to use most Instant Messaging programs with the BlackBerry, it is extremely attractive for the hearing impaired consumer. This allows for the versatility and freedom that such consumers may not usually have with other cell phones and wireless devices. The useful keypad also allows for easy and quick typing.

The BlackBerry is an ideal handheld wireless device for the person on the go – even the hearing impaired or deaf person on the go. The BlackBerry can help you keep in touch through email, Internet surfing, text messaging, instant messaging, and telephone calls from just about any location at any time of day. The BlackBerry also allows for many helpful TTY and voice and text wireless relay services which are imperative for successful communication for the hearing impaired.
