You like a challenge, eh?

Try this with the 8120....

We are going to use the AppLoader application, NOT BB Desktop Manager. With the BB disconnected from your PC, use Windows Explorer to navigate to your main drive (usually C Drive) and look for Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. You should find the exe file for AppLoader. Double Click it to start AppLoader and after it opens, click Next. You should see a screen showing the Communication Port Selection and it will probably be showing COM 1.

You will now connect the BB to your PC with the USB cable. This could get a bit tricky, because at the exact moment you see COM 1 change to USB-PIN:UNKNOWN you must immediately click Next and that should trap the BB out of the continuous looping you have.

The AppLoader Wizard should now offer the option to select the application you want to install, which in this case is the OS you downloaded. The install could take from 15-45 minutes and should end with a "The Loading Operation Was Successful" screen.

The BB will reboot and you can disconnect the USB cable. Note that the reboot can take a very long time so don't get anxious and leave it alone until it is completed the cycles.
