I am using 8830,
It has a GSM SIM slot bit CDMA is Native programming
SO u can insert a GSM SIM in 8830.

okay so i have a semi-silly question (because i should know the answer)
i didn't think that it mattered if i gave a bb phone away without a sim card ... please correct me if i'm wrong.
I still have the Sim card on my Pearl, but i am thinking of giving it to my sister and replacing it with a bold ... should I just leave the sim card inside? I was going to take it out, because i didn't think that she could use it - wouldn't she have to get a new sim card anyway?

JP, when giving or selling any phone, never include your SIM card. Never, ever, ever. They have their own, or need to get their own that will work on their account.
Your SIM card is basically your entire account and phone number. You don't want to "give" that to someone else.
