i thought the 8830 had a sim.. so i was close to striking a deal with somebody until they said it does not have a sim.

Are you sure they meant that it doesn't come with a SIM card instead of it not having a SIM card slot?

No I'm not sure.. Pc has been shutdown but email them tomorrow morning.

You're saying it should have a sim slot ?

Personally, I don't know, but that's what you and others have been saying. There's a difference if the seller says there's no SIM card and no SIM card slot. Double check that.

I just checked VZW's site and here's what it says:

Dual–band 900/1800 Mhz GSM/GPRS
(outside North America)
So I think it would be safe to say it has a SIM card slot.

But make sure the GSM band will operate here in the US if that is what you want to do. I thought they were usable only outside the US frequencies...
