Default Blackberry pearl 8130 micro SD HC

I have read different responses as to the pearl has compatibility issues with the HC cards. Can anyone confirm for me if they work or not? Thanks.

Hi reh381 and welcome to EB:

You should be able to use the HC (High Capacity) card in your Pearl. You need to be running the 4.5 (or 4.3 I think) OS in order to see and use the full capacity though. Original OS versions were limited to 2GB cards.

What OS are you running?

Visit and post often and thanks for registering.....

The latest OS for the 8130 was released a few days ago, 4.5.0.173 and can be downloaded from BlackBerry.com.

However, I would urge you to open up the Pearl, use it for awhile, learn a bit about what you like and maybe don't like before you look to upgrade the OS. You may also find the installed OS it comes with will support the HC cards too.

We do have a thread about how to upgrade the BB OS here. Take a look to see what is involved and you may have some questions, which we would be happy to help you with when you are ready.

Who is the carrier you will be using the 8130 on?
