stevetaz,
Thanks so much for the great replies. I can tell that your click option is not working either. It's not actually a "click" that you should be hearing. That "click" is simply a hw sound coming from the actual trackball mechanism. What I had and cannot get back was an actual sound from the speaker that was more like a "thump" sound. lol. This is getting silly. But yes, it's that important to me to get it back.
I think you hit on something with the themes. I think stuff I'm downloading from either my photo file or from the internet and then using at a home screen might not be agreeing with the computer system of the phone, if you will. One it sort of messes with the theme profile, it may sort of "break" it.
I'm not too technical, so apologies if I can't really explain it clearly, but the sound is very helpful and actually aids in my productivity. Don't ask me why, but when I can hear what I'm doing, it saves me time. I'm quite sure this may be why they created this function and why they give you the choice. It's a very audible sound, not one that you would have to put the phone up to your ear to hear.
I don't like the keypad sound option at all, so it's not that I want my phone to be a chatter box that distracts everyone. The sound that the trackball makes when it's working correctly on the "click" option is very easy on the ear and I love it. I want it back! I tried changing the home screen backdrop, as it did occur to me that I had changed it recently and thought maybe that was the issue, but low and behold, that was not a fix. I also tried reverting back to a pre-installed theme and that didn't fix it either, but I feel we're getting closer to the issue. I think it's something to do with either the theme, or even more likely, using a picture for your background that may not be set up correctly to use on the phone. Maybe it messes with the sw somewhere in the system. If ANYONE out there can try the click option and tell me if they can get the actual THUMP sound to come out of the speaker and not just the little tiny click sound on the roller ball, I would be THRILLED to hear about it, just to know it actually works for SOMEONE!
Thanks so much for taking the time to try to help me figure this one out. If you come with anything, I'd love to here it!

P.S. After putting the phone up to my ear the "click" may be coming from the speaker too but it's not the sound I was hoping to get back. It's more of a "thump". I swear, I'm not crazy! LOL
