Default Cant get my bold to restore archived apps

I just upgraded my OS to the lates 4.6 this morning and my bold archived all of the apps i keep in my download folder. when i click on an archived file to restore it the screen stays on the restore or cancel screen after i select restore. the apps work fine this is just annoying. i dont just want to hide the files and let them take up space on an already jam packed phone. can anyone help me get rid of these archived files?

Hi ccovington and welcome to EB:

Can you clarify this a bit more? You say the apps work fine, but you are trying to restore them? It also sounds like you are saying the archive is stored on your Bold? Archives are normally stored on the PC via the BB Desktop Manager.

When you respond, also advise if you are on a BES system (usually corporate) or BIS (usually consumer).

Thanks for registering and I hope we see you here frequently.....

Wow, thanks for replying...I thought that since no one was replying that there was a group of moderators somewhere laughing at me. The archives are on my phone, not my computer. They r located in the d/l folder along w/ my apps. I am on the BIS system. I was only restoring them to get rid of the archive icons. Thanks for having me on ur forum site, I posted this on crackberry before I discovered this one and still haven't gotten a response.

When you did your upgrade, was it done OTA (Over The Air) or did you use the BB Desktop Manager?

What are you using to see the device folders? BBs don't normally come with a file manager.

at the risk of sounding dumb...im not sure i understand your request. do you want the path to my apps when accessed through my pc?

(20 mins after above post) i dunno, what the heck is goin on...i connected the phone to my pc and accessed the apps folder trying to understand what youre asking and some of the archive icons disappeared.

(30 mins after above post) Ok, after a billion (ok like 5) reboots and a 4.6 reinstall; the archive icons on the phone started to work properly...they just required me to reinstall the apps, (which is dumb if you ask me)...but never the less...case closed.... thanks for your help and most of all, ur patience stevetaz...

ccovington, I am still very unclear as to what you were seeing and I asked for the path to understand exactly what you were connected to. Yes, I was asking for the path you would see in Windows Explorer. For example, what I see when my 8830 is connected is simply:
E:\
The subfolders in that path are:
BlackBerry
Data Files
Music
Pictures

The first sub is the actual BB device. The other three are folders on the SD Media Card

If I open the device, I see these sub folders:
documents
music
pictures
ringtones
videos
voicenotes

I do not have an Apps folder on the device. At least not that I can see. My Backup files (IPD format) are stored in the My Documents folder. I am also not sure what you mean when you speak about archive icons.

I know that the newer BBs do have updated OSs that I have not had the opportunity to play with so I am sure there are differences and that is another reason I was asking about what you were seeing and where the files/folders are. I was trying to understand what you were seeing as every day is a learning experience for me.

In any case, I am glad you got things working to your satisfaction and i hope we see you visit and post here often.

Good morning Stevetaz,
I think i know what the confussion is about. I was not clear when I explained where the archive icons were. They were on my phone itself in the d/l folder, where you would see all of your apps displayed. (If i had one of the screen shot capture programs i would show you.)

I was trying to access the blackberry (not the sd card) last night to give you the file path you asked for, but for some strange reason my pc was telling me the file wasnt found (which i figured to be a windows snaffu thanks bill gates). Anywho... once this happend I descided to start up my Desktop manager and for some reason it offered the same update that i supposedly did earlier in the day. So I ran it again...that is what corrected it, once that was done i just ran the archive icons in the downloads folder, reinstalled the programs from appworld and they disappeared (not sure why i had to reinstall them to get the archive icons to dissappear but no worries.)

I look forward to posting here...im hoping that I can offer more help instead of leeching off u guys all the time.
