When you quote the OS (and DM) versions always give the full version number as there are multiple 4.6 OS versions. The last three digits usually reflect the different versions and it is important to know the exact one you are dealing with.

In this last case this is already the case.
No, the DM and OS versions will usually be different. What you have to make sure matches is the OS version installed on your BB and the OS version installed to your PC. That is where knowing the full version numbers is very important.

Very strange because it still promted yesterday after the uninstall of the 4.6 version. And I didn't restart nor the pc nor the BB.

Multiple versions of the OS and of DM installed on the same PC can cause odd behavior and you should be okay now if you only have the single instances installed. Note that it will not always cause odd things to happen, but if it does removing the additional installation copies will often clear up issues.

So here is the never ending story of the core 4.6 update:
Today after synchronizing my Bold and checking the Application Loader it found again an update for the Core 4.6.
Checking the details there is no difference between the installed version 4.6.0.303 and the available version 4.6.0.303 except that some modules are not installed. This was also earlier the case.
For all what it's worth, this is what versions are installed:
BB Device Manager 4.7.1.11
BBDevMgr 4.10.11
RIM USB driver 4.1.0.4
RIM serial USB driver 2.2.0.3
Application Loader 5.0.0.18
RIMProgram 1.0.0.35
On my BB Bold:
Platform 4.0.0.248
Software version 4.6.0.303
Also on PC:
Blackberry Media Sync 2.0.27
Blackberry Desktop Software 5.0 5.0.0.11
So the strange thing is:
For 2 days there was no core update (I checked).
Now there it is again! Grrrr
This drives me nuts....

So there is a difference between the two?
Did you try uninstalling the OS from your PC and just keep the download on-hand, but not install it?

Hi,
What do you mean by uninstalling the OS from my PC? You mean the DM which is installed? Or the BlackBerry Media Sync?
As far as I can tell (I checked in installed software on my XP Desktop) there is no other BlackBerry software installed.
Or am I missing something?

wouterk, you had to download and install the OS on your PC in order for DM and App Loader to recognize it.
What I am suggesting is to delete the OS so DM no longer sees it and suggests upgrading.
The other suggestion was to download it, but not double-click to install it to the PC so you have the version available if you have to do a reinstall or something. If you have to reinstall the OS to your BB then you will have to double-click the OS you downloaded to install to the PC and then DM will be able to find it.

Hi Stevetaz,
Thanks for all you advice and patience.
Right now the program doesn't find any update after I (again) installed the 4.6 update using the DM.
For the time being I hope it stays this way but as soon as the troubles reappear I'll report here right away.
Thanks,
Wouter
