my keybord doesnt work and my track ball doesnt move!!!!!!!

my track ball and keyboard is not working on my blackberry! the track ball moves but does not click. how do i replace/fix this problem??

Those are pretty severe problems to have and quite odd if it just happened out of nowhere.

Did the BB get wet or was it dropped?

There are videos out there detailing how to take the Bold apart and you can buy parts to replace the keyboard and trackball. This is a link to one disassembly video.

Parts can be bought from cnn.cn and they are very reputable as well as fair with their pricing. However, they are in China and their shipping can take up to two weeks.

You could also check a Canadian company, Horizonwirelessonline.com, also very reputable. Not sure if they offer expedited shipping as an option.

I hope you are able to resolve your issues and I am real curious to know how this happened.

The trackball mechanism can stick and often all it takes is to press on the trackball and firmly move it side to side to move it. You can also try holding it down and spraying canned air to dislodge the lint or dirt that may be stuck or caught.

Do you keep the BB in your pocket? You should be using the sleeve that came with it to prevent lint and grit from being caught in it.

The trackball can be changed pretty easily if you can't free it up, but you should check with your carrier to see if they will change it as a customer service.

How long have you had the BB?

I used a can of compressed air to fix a sticky trackball - just hold down the trackball and give it a good squirt. I have also had success with rubbing alcohol swabs over the trackball.

Thanks for confirming a couple of ways the trackball can be freed up. It is always great for other members to see that users have had success. One caution about the alcohol swabs though. You have to be careful that the swab is not dripping wet with the alcohol and I am sure you were cautious with that.

The swab is also good to clean up a dirty trackball that may not be sticking, but is visually dirty instead of the original white. Again, just be careful to not allow too much of the liquid to get all over.
