Default Theme Help

(I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place).

I had the perfect theme for my BB Bold. I lost it while downgrading from os 5. I have no idea where I downloaded it from. I believe it was a free download. So, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the details - there was a row of icons at the top of the screen (approx. 7), in the main part of the screen the first icon from the top row was in the middle left under the date and time to the right of that were two sections (messages and calendar).

I know this is a tiny needle in a huge haystack, but if that theme sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know.

Thanks.

MK19106, sorry to hear about your issue, but a needle in a haystack might have a chance of being found. This sounds more like a grain of sand in an ocean.

Is there anything else you can provide like what the background looked like?

Was the download you did something you might still have on your PC, assuming you are using a PC and not Mac?

This is a good example of why I am an advocate of doing downloads to the PC and using the DM to do the install. At least you will have a backup or even a record of what was installed. That is not the case with OTA installs.

Do you have any old backups that may have captured info about your theme? Maybe a reference on your SD Card?

Perhaps the place you downloaded it from might have required registration and you may have an old email from them?

Wish I could offer more....

Surprisingly, right when I recieved an email that you responded, I found the theme. Unbelievably so. It is a theme made by ecruz that though not in the original place, I was able to trackdown elsewhere. Persistence pays sometimes. Now, off to do a backup.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I was about to start going through all my old emails, rather than the ones w/just the label "blackberry". And would you believe, the download is OTA, so can't do the download to PC, then use DM. At least now I wrote down the website in case this ever happens again.

On another note - this all happened when I realized as cool as OS 5 was, things I use on a daily basis didn't work. Any inkling as to when other apps (facebook, gtalk, etc.) catch up to os 5?

Glad you had success...Take a look at this sticky, the third method. It may give you a way to still store it on your SD Card....

Post often......

Awesome. Thanks! I just realized that when I finished my reply I meant to ask if doing a back up would save the darn thing. It didn't. So, I'll check out the sticky!

Another thing to consider is to try a modified backup that fools the system into backing up third-party apps and Themes are third-party apps, so try it.

Instructions are here.

Give it a shot and let us know if it worked for you.

The first suggestion did not work. For whatever reason, the SIM card was not located and identified. I'll try the 2nd suggestion within the next few days.

Thanks for the help!
