Hey newts, a new member just posted a couple of free apps he has written. One of them is titled Reader and in a post on another board the author was asked when Reader is used for. This was his reply:
It might be useful when opening an email attachment.
When the bb says:"This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device.
Not sure if it applies to vcf attachments, but you might want to post the question and see what the author responds.....
Here is his EB Post....

SMS VCard Add-on for sending/receiving business cards
Hi,
If there is still anyone interested on this subject, there is a new tool available for exchanging Vcards by SMS.
Search the net for 'SMS Vcard Add-on' and you'll find it. It's available on Mobihand and other channels for $1.99. Good reviews on several Blackberry sites also.
Bye

Listen, if you are going to shill for a developer, just be up front and state that you work for a company that made a great app or that you are the developer who made a great app.
You post here like you just found this great thing and want to share, but in the past few weeks you have posted the same stuff on no fewer than 8 other BB sites.
You also say there are good reviews on several Blackberry sites...Links please. I didn't any reviews other than your posts.
Finally on one of the other sites you did say that due to SMS limits (160 characters) that this add-on will only send the name, phone and email. If true that is kind of a big limitation to forget to mention when you are saying how great this app is.
I will give you 24 hours or so to respond.
If no response, as you put in your post, "....bye...."

A story of SMS Vcard Add-on
Hi again,
Sorry you are so angry.... If you want a story here it is: I know the person that developed the app and I appreciate it. No other link. There is no company just a person that put the best to give an affordable and useful app. So I just wanted to give a hand for people to know about it. In the end is everyone choice what to do with the info.
Next. reviews. check here: http://www.blackberrycool.com/2009/0...ur-blackberry/ and here: http://www.blackberryinsight.com/200...-vcard-add-on/. or here:
Also you will find different posts on other sites of people that recommend it. One is here: http://pdasn.com/read.php?tid=105041&page=e
If I wanted to do something unethical I wouldn't have registered with the same posts on other forum, would I?
As for the "limit" imposed by SMS, every one can read this info on the app description before buying it.
And in the end.... hope the readers will buy from your site.
If it helps, I'll write the story beforehand if the situation will arise again.
Cheers and I'll let you decide.

I am not that angry and all we ask is that if you have a tie to the company or developer it should be mentioned. If members are permitted to rave about things they have a vested interest or even a peripheral tie to there will always be questions about possible bias.
In this case you only would have had to state that you are friends with the developer and that you think the app is worthy enough that others should try it out. Full Disclosure is good. End of story.
In the end, the application will either stand on its own or fail, but please understand that forums such as EB try to maintain objectivity and present opportunities for the members to enhance their BB experience. Daily, we are innundated with spam of various types that uses our time having to purge it instead of using the limited hours available to help members by posting valuable and timely news and information.
Now that you have fully disclosed your ties I have no intention of doing anything else, but I do hope that you spend some time here to share experiences with all of our members and I also hope that you will become a frequent contributor, not just about vCard via SMS software.
Thanks for taking the time to clarify for us....
