Users Wanted: Unlock the Potential of Your Bold!

    Hi All,

We're the founders of a new web service called Oomble that is currently in development. On the heels of our incredibly successful beta release for the Samsung Instinct, we are now looking for beta testers to help us unlock the potential of your Bold.

Oomble is a completely wireless service that lets you manage the photos and music on your phone, all from your computer’s web browser. Sign up for Oomble and you’ll be able to instantly drag and drop your photos and songs from your hard drive or your favorite sites (such as Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket, Facebook, and MySpace) right into your Bold (and vice versa) with a single click.

Here is what one beta user has said about Oomble:

"This is the app I've been waiting for. One Word = Amazing. Now I have something to brag about to my iPhone buddies!"

Oomble is best experienced on your Bold when you are using WiFi. Oomble does work on the Bold with 3G, but as some of you may have experienced, 3G network performance of the Bold can be unpredictable at times (this is a known firmware/chipset issue for the Bold). We've done our best to make sure Oomble is able to recover from these network issues, so please let us know if you also experience network problems with Oomble.

We are opening general beta registration to only 200 Bold signups (AT&T only, for now), so sign up now to be sure you’re one of the first to try out Oomble!

Just go to www.oomble.com to signup using Internet Explorer and enter the promotional code: BOLD

We hope you like Oomble! And please do provide us any feedback at comments@oomble.com. Thanks so much.

    Best,

    Dan and Chris

    Hi ktownerxx213,

Thanks for the question. We built Oomble to make it as easy as possible to manage the media on your Bold through a web site without ever touching the device. Essentially, we want to give you a "web view into your phone." Here are a few things you can do with Oomble:
    • Get the pictures you have on Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket, or SmugMug by just dragging them directly off the web site to your phone.
    • Drag songs from your iTunes library directly into your phone.
    • Instantly see all the photos you took with your camera phone on the Oomble web site and drag them into your favorite social networking or photo site.
    • Get a real time view of all the songs that are sitting on your phone.
    • Delete all the unwanted photos that have piled up on your phone without ever touching your phone.
Hopefully, there are some aspects of Oomble that you might find useful! We hope you'll try it and let us know.

    Thanks,

    dan

Thanks! So right now we are in beta testing, so everything is free! Also, unfortunately, right now, Oomble works only on Internet Explorer on a PC, but our Firefox support is coming soon!

    Hi Dan:

I thank you for keeping us abreast of updates and I see a much larger selection of devices has been added. I am curious why you support the 8830 for AT&T, but not my Sprint 8830. I also noticed that no Verizon devices are supported....Interesting...Is that being worked on or does VZW not play nice?

I must let you know there are a few things I find difficult to deal with on your site and I thought I would throw them out to you, for what they are worth....
    1) I see the label is now showing oomble as an alpha, yet I cannot seem to find anything that mentions cost. I don't see anything indicating it is free or if there is a cost.
If free I think that should be trumpeted and if there is a cost that should be clear too.
    2) When I click on the Try It icon, I get repeated attemts to load a CAB software (flash?) and even after accepting, every screen after seems to need the same CAB file to load, over and over. Then if I select Log Out, I return the the main site.
    3) Even after installing the CAB, if I exit the site and then log back in again, the same popups appear advising I have to install the CAB file repeatedly. Very, very annoying.
    4) It appears the Try It button sets up the screen as a user would see it and the loading was painfully slow. Other than seeing what it looks like I am not sure what the point is. I couldn't do anything as there is no music or photos in the Try It screen to manipulate. I did get activity when I selected My Computer in the Navigation Panel and tried to load two songs from my computer. It only allowed individual tracks to be selected too.
I gave up after the icon next to My Oomble kept spinning for a full five minutes, but nothing else changed.

Maybe I am just too old to be allowed near new technology?

Can you give me a clue as to what I am doing wrong or what I really should have expected.

    Steve,

Thanks so much for trying to sign-up. Its important for us to resolve your frustrations, and no, you aren't too old! Sounds like we have some issues with our Internet Explorer plug-in in your particular set up - sorry about that (you are definitely not doing anything wrong!). If you have the time, would you mind if we took some of these issues offline by your emailing us at comments@oomble.com - we'll look into these issues with you and then post a resolution here when we get to one?

With respect to the rest of your comments:

    1) Oomble is currently free. We are still gathering user feedback as to what people like most about the service (we getting a good idea by now, but still working on it) - so we are still a bit too early to be thinking of charging for the service as it is right now.

2)-4) Would you mind if we tried to work with you to fix this offline by corresponding with us at comments@oomble.com? The CAB plugin enables you to go directly to other sites (Facebook, Flickr, SmugMug, etc.) and drag content from those sites and drop them directly into your phone in the navigation panel - it's what a lot of users really enjoy about Oomble.

We'll also add Sprint 8830 to the list. Thanks again and sorry for your problems, Steve. Hopefully you'll have time to work with us to resolve them.

    Best,

    dan
