Curve 8900 with at&t... Question...
Ok,
I am going with my new 8900 about a week now. So far, I am really liking it. I had a Moto Q9h, and the only thing that I am missing is the ability to sync up my Outlook 2000. Now, I have searched everywhere, and I mean everywhere for a solution, and have come back emptied handed.
Now my question or request is for the fantastic people on this forum that have the great smarts to create modifications aka hacks... Myself, and possibly alot of people still use Outlook 2000 and would like to be able to sync up their new 8900.
So the challenge is set, if possible, please help out, if not possible, let me know so that I can go back to my Q...
Thanks in advance...

That is a tough request because the latest DM that actually worked with Outlook2000 was 4.2 SP2 I think.
You might try deleting the current DM version you have (probably 4.7) and then try to install the older version 4.2, SP2. DM4.2 SP2 can be downloaded here. HOWEVER, that older DM probably does not include the drivers to enable DM to recognize a newer BB like the 8900. Try plugging it in and see if you get a warning about installing drivers. If you do, try the next step....
You might have luck fooling the DM by reinstalling 4.7 over the 4.2 SP2, but that is probably a stretch. I think the 4.7 install will want to remove the 4.2.
If that doesn't work you may want to try removing the DM again and start out in reverse. Complete deletion of DM is discussed in this KB02206 article. Install DM 4.7 and then see if you can then install 4.2 SP2 over 4.7. I don't think it will work, but it is worth a shot.
I did find this in a posting somewhere, but I am not sure where you can find the 4.7 Device Drivers without DM that it mentions for download:
To get Outlook 2000 to work with my newer Blackberry is a challenge but doable. Unfortunately RIM removed support for Outlook 2000 in all desktop versions past 4.2 SP2 so I have an older version of the desktop but it does everything I need so no big deal. To get it to work you have to first install the 4.7 device drivers (downloaded from RIM) which is not the same thing as the Desktop. It's the drivers SANS desktop. Then copy the RimUSB.sys from c:\windows\system32\drivers into a backup folder. Then install the 4.2 SP2 desktop and before rebooting, you need to copy the RimUSB.sys driver file back to the windows driver directory. Then reboot. And when you sync up it will detect your newer BB no problem.
If all else fails, you will have to give up the ghost and upgrade your Outlook....
Let us know what happens...

dj, did you try the USB Drivers in the download list?
