Hi:

That generally means a message you sent was delivered to the recipient's device.

I am curious if you have been noticing it on messages sent to users of the same network you are on, but not for those on other carriers? Is it only showing for other BB users?

It seems to be a standard for GSM carriers because of the technology used to send/receive messages. CDMA carriers usually restrict it or only give you a checkmark. Verizon may be using and Sprint doesn't seem to use that at all.

I understand that Verizon is planning to discontinue it as they believe their rate of positive delivery (98% +) is so high it will not be necessary anymore. It does use data so if you are pay-as-you-go it could affect you in the billing....

That is very odd. I have been on Sprint for years and never seen the D at all. As I said Verizon uses it, but they had announced it would be phased out region by region by September 30.

I guess user outcry caught their attention as I heard late yesterday they have put the phase-out on hold while they reevaluate.

Are the messages you see it for being sent to Verizon users by any chance?
