Sync Settings
Ok, this is my second post. My first post was very well responded to and the solution was fantastic. So I am hoping for an equally successful response to this question.
I have a blackberry 8330 on Sprint Connected to a BES. I have transitioned to the Blackberry 8330 from an HTC Touch. I used the touch as a sync hub to keep my data from my Exchange account at work synchronized with my personal database at home. I am now using The Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.3 to keep the same level of synchronization that I am used to through Windows Mobile Device Manager on my Vista Basic laptop. However BDM seems to recognize that my device is set up for BES sync and will not also sync my data with my separate data base. I receive a warning that "calender, memo, Task are set for wireless sync and can not be synchronized utilizing DM". I have un-installed and installed it utilizing both BES/Redirector and BIS installs; utilizing usb and blue tooth. No matter what I do I get the same warning.
How do I keep my BES connection and simultaneously sync my device with my personal home computer?
Thank you so much for any input.

Hi Xion:
I hope this is coherent. I am very tired and should be sleeping, but I don't want you to have a reason to go elsewhere ( ), so here goes:
Yes, this can be done....There are a couple of things to keep in mind when synching between two different desktops. The BES wireless sync should be fine and actually is the "primary" sync, but with your personal desktop, install the Desktop Manager (does not matter which version, but 4.3 is known to be quirky) setup as a BIS. Customize the configuration for synchronizing. When you decide to sync to your personal desktop, you must ensure that for Address Book, Calendar, Memopad and Tasks the option "Wireless Synchronization" is set to "No" for each category and when you are finished unplug your USB Cable to the device and turn each one back to "Yes" for Wireless.
I hope this is of help, but if not respond and I will check in the morning with both eyes open.

Thank you so much. You are always extreamly helpfull! I am greatly appreciative. I have one question. To do this, I would have to manually go in to the DM and switch wireless Sync Off and then when I am done, switch it back to on? If I where to forget to turn it back on, would my device continue to sync with the BES? My goal is so that as I walk past my DM at home, it auto syncs info without me needing to touch it. Once again, thank you so much.

Good Morning:
Sorry, but you can't do two wireless desktop syncs. The BIS mail can be set up as wireless, but the other information must be done through a cabled connection.
Yes, you must remember to turn the wireless back on or the BES will not update.
Thanks for the kind words and please come back soon.......

OK, I think I have familiarized myself with this process, and have set up my system accordingly, to achieve the goal of Seamless Synchronization between Exchange PIM and Personal PIM. I have 6 calenders that I synch, using wireless device as hub.
1. Turn off wireless synch via App/Menu/(Cal, Choose Calendar)/Wireless sync:Off.
2. Repeat this process for all apps (Address book, 6 Calendars, Tasks, Memos)
3. Plug in and synch with BDM.
4. Verify no conflicts or duplications
5. Unplug Blackberry
6. Turn on Wireless synch via App/Menu/(Cal, choose calendar)/Wireless sync:On
7. Verify that BES is not re-synching.
The first time I did this I lost connection with the BES and had to contact IT to have device reset and new BES password assigned to me. My device is working now, but I have a little in trepidation. I have approximately 2000 contacts, 300 appointments, 496 memos and between 5 to 10 active tasks a day that I balance between 3 databases including BES, Outlook 2007, and Google (Google cal then syncs with 4 calenders that my family use. It just takes a lot of time and effort when something goes down. On my HTC Touch all I did was use OggSync for all Google apps, Microsoft Exchange 2007 for Exchange info, and Microsoft Mobile device center. All I had to do after initial set up was plug in my phone and everything synched. Currently I am using Google synch (which works fantastically) as well as the solution above, yet it is still very cumbersome and requires more monitoring than I am used to.
Is there a quicker way, even with using different 3rd party apps? I would like to get to where I was with the WM6 device, where I just set it up initially and let it run.
Thanks again for any input.

Hi Xion:
Holy crap, six calendars!!!!!! I just can't imagine.....
I hate to say this, but your situation might not be best suited for a BlackBerry. I am not aware of anything that could sync and keep six different calendars updated and separate. I use one calendar and I can barely keep up.
Of course that doesn't mean there is nothing out there, but I have never seen anyone indicating they were in that position nor have I seen anyone mention add-on software that would accomplish that.
I will look around and report back as soon as I can.

Xion:
Take a look at this to see if it might offer some help. I just don't have time lately to read the fine print. It did seem to list BBs.
Please let us know as I am not coming up with very much yet....

I have had great luck synching my Curve after your advice stevetaz. I havent explored the FolderMirror product much. The process I gained from this thread has been great, and much less cumbersome than I had origianly thought. I found out though, that about 2 days ago my blackberry is not sycning with the BES. If I add a contact on my work desctop it does not appear in my balckberry. However the unit is connected to the BES. email, cal, tasks memo's etc all synch within seconds. I can even open up my address book, and look up corporate contacts from the global address book and add them to my Blackberry address book. So I know Im connected to the BES. However if I manually add a contact to the my personal contacts on Outlook on the BES it does not synch. Now the main thing. The option to turn wireless sych on or off is no longer on my blackberry under Address/menu/Options. Usually it is under Views or Actions, now it is not there. I know this is usually enabled form the BES server admin. If it used to be there, and all my other BES features are working, and My Main Menu/Options/Advanced Options/Enterprise Activation it states I have been active since May 30th. Have I done something to disable this? How do I re-enable the address book wireless synch so I can turn wireless synch on and off? Thanks again for your help.

Hey Xion:
Sorry for not responding, but the home network crashed and I just cannot find time to do this while at work.
With a little luck I hope to post something by tomorrow....
In the meantime, I suggest you try this:
1. Delete the "Desktop [SYNC]" Service Book in Curve
2. Resend Desktop [SYNC] Service Book from BES to Curve (I believe your BES admin will have to do this)
3. Switch Curve off/on
Have you asked the BES admin about this problem? It may be a BB bug, but it could be related to all the configuring you are doing to sync all those different accounts.
