Well, as things go, instead of the Pearl I wound up picking up a tMobile Curve for my daughter. Texting is her thing and I still don't think you can beat a full Qwerty in the hands of a young person. It is truly a sight to behold!!! Besides, that is the one she finally hinted at.

Needless to say she was tickled and I could get some great mileage out of this. She might even like me for two or three weeks in a row!!! <sigh>

I will be very interested to see how the tMobile plan I got holds up to a college sophmore, away from home and her boyfriend.

I found a plan that just seems to be a great offering for a pretty affordable price:
    BlackBerry Minutes & Mail
1000 monthly any-time minutes (only choices are this and 1500 for more $)
    Unlimited Data
    Unlimited Text and Instant Messages
    Unlimited Email
    WiFi too

    All for only...........$59.99 per month.

However, this plan does not appear to include myFaves, which could have reduced her monthly minutes usage by at least half. When I went back to sign he tried writing a 600 minute (?) plan and then asked if I wanted text, insurance, destination, dealer prep, etc. To get a similar total plan with only 600 minutes was over $90 a month!

We will see. Here is a link to the full plan description if you are interested.

What type of plan do you have and how much???

SteveTaz, I was just perusing the new posts and the latest spamming post brought me back to this thread, I then relaized I never responded to your questions, I am with Verizon, CDMA I beleive, and the reset app is called "SoftReset" http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-software/

    Hi braxtoq:

Thanks for the slightly delayed response!!!

I have seen that program mentioned elsewhere and I have also noticed others commenting that it doesn't quite clear as much as an actual battery pull though. Not sure how big a difference there really is.

Have you experimented by running that program, noting the free memory and then doing a battery pull to see if there is a difference?

I think I will take a try at it, perhaps this coming holiday weekend.....

    Thanks and regards,

No I have not compared the difference, however, it does seem to resolve my issues for quite some time. I do try to close apps after using them and I will reset once a week or so just as a preventative measure.....

    Hi braxtoq:

Well, I did DL the soft reset program and tried it out last night. I used it to reset and then tried a battery pull to see if there was an increased amount freed up and the result was.......<drum roll>.....

Just about no difference so the program seemed to free up the same amount of memory as a battery pull. Much easier than a battery pull too.

I will try to remember to add it to my list of software too.

    Thanks,
    SteveTaz
