Default Manual Device Wipe?

Hey all, I'm posting this question for my cousin. She has a pearl and she can't scroll up or down. So I suggested doing a device wipe. But she can't go through the menu because... well.. she can't scroll. Is there a manual way to do it? Similar to my Moto Q9h - Hold down Z+E+power buttons. I saw a post about entering wrong password multiple times and device will do a wipe. But I assume you need to go through the menu to set that up as well. Any ideas? TIA.

EDIT found a thread about using JL_Cmde. will perform this if there is no way to do a wipe (hehehe why they call it a wipe, it makes me giggle every time?) via keyboard.

If the trackball is jammed have you tried freeing it up? Put in standby or turn off and with a bit of force press in on the trackball and roll up and down, side to side, etc. There is probably grit or lint stuck in the trackball.

Thanks Taz, I'll tell her to try that before doing the wipe.

Definitely not an uncommon problem, especially if the BB is carried in a purse or pocket with no case to protect it.

Besides, if it is a trackball/lint/dirt issue, doing the wipe will not resolve it. If it is a software issue cleaning the TB won't resolve it.

Another help can be pressing in the TB and blowing compressed air into and around it.

It could be a TB replacement might be in order and that is not hard to do and is very cheap if DYI....If moving it around and the air helps she might consider replacing it (the TB) because moving it around only displaces the dirt/lint. It doesn't get rid of it.

Hope it helps....

In case there's something physically wrong with the trackball, check out this site: www.cnn.cn
They have very good pricing on their parts-the only downside is shipping takes a while unless you want to opt for upgraded shipping and pay extra.
