    messages deleting themselves

Also, why are my messages being deleted? I haven't deleted any messages and I find that later in the day they are being deleted on their own.

Plus, it shows I have new messages then it goes away and I can not find them. I was having problems with the phone earlier and think I got it fixed. Anyone know a solution to these problems?

Sounds like you may be having memory issues. What is listed as the File Free in Options > Status?

Also take a look at this thread, post #1.

    Hi and welcome to EB:

When you say your space could be 1 gig, how about you post exactly what the numbers are when you go to Options > Status -File Free and File Total.

I am not aware of a BB that has a gig of memory. I am talking about the device memory, not a microSD card memory.

Keep in mind the memory is shown in Bytes. As an example, if the File Free is listed as 4073636, that would be approximately 4Mb, very low.

When my Curve did this, all I did was perform a battery pull and it fixed itself.

    Hi Sav:

You are correct, but there is more to it in that people can learn to manage it better and have it become predictable and avoidable rather than have it happen randomly and lose data. That is what the link in my post #2 of the thread was intended to help with.

As the available memory has grown with the newer devices, this becomes less and less of an issue and the newer OSes are supposed to also fix the memory leaks, but it is still a battle I face with my 8830.

Managing it has helped me to never lose any data and keeps the device running smooth and fast.

This is the classic sign of one (or more!) of your third party apps leaking or using too much memory.

Doing what Sav suggests - taking the battery out and putting it back in - should fix the problem, although the fix will be temporary until that memory is gobbled up again by the offending app.

I was told over the phone from a Verizon employee that it is a malfunction that all Pearls have and it is something we all just have to deal with! they are working on something to fix it but as of now they are all pieces of junk! I am on my 4th one and they have all done it! there is no hope!

Hi marzie and welcome to EB:

Pearls, Curves, 8800s...They all experience this issue with OS versions 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 I think. The phones are actually not "pieces of junk". The problem is the OS programming and the upgrade to OS version 4.5 is supposed to resolve this.

I don't think vVerizon has their official version released yet so perhaps that is what they are referring to when they say they are working on it. The OS can be found on the Internet and installed in your device, but it is not yet supported by VZW.

Or, you can refer to this Tips and Tricks thread and follow #1 very closely. It will keep the problem in line and eliminate the need to keep changing handsets....A little time invested (10 -15 minutes once a week) will save you trips to the Verizon store. That will help the environment too!

    Messages Still Deleting

    Hi there,

I have had the same problem recently with messages being deleted. I have 4 email accounts that go to my BB, and the main one I use with Outlook for work (not on an exchange server) just decides to delete messages from my BB a few hours after recieving them. I have not touched them in Outlook Inbox at all. I even bought a new BB 8230 Flip yesterday thinking this may help the problem and it did not. My "File Free" is at 61100975 bytes...so I don't think its a memory issue...any ideas anyone!?

    Thanks!
