Trackball

Oh Steve please help me. My trackball stopped working it moves up and down but won't enter. Sprint has no idea how to fix it. My phone is only 5 weeks old. (had to get a new one).

Long time no see or hear from....

It moves up and down, but does it move side to side? I believe you indicated you have problems with applying pressure with your hands, but if you can, I suggest you try pressing down on it and rolling it both up and down and side to side.

If that doesn't help, do try a battery pull with the device on. Wait 30 seconds and replace it and see if that helps.

I tried and tried but to no avail. I am so sad it does move up and down and also side to side but I can't push enter on it. Well I guess I will just wait and get a refubed one.

Sounds like there could be lint or dust under it. Keep trying to push in hard and roll it around. You could also try blowing some compressed air around the trackball to see if anything gets dislodged underneath.

Five weeks is way too young to die like this. Out of curiosity, do you carry the Pearl in a pocket or a purse? Do you keep it in a protective sleeve? It should be kept in a sleeve/case as the trackball can be prone to picking up dirt or lint.

Another issue can be moisture. Any chance it may have gotten wet or touched with wet fingers?

If this was a replacement Pearl, is it still under warranty? Trackballs are replaceable too.
