Trying to sync with PocketMac - Problems
Hello,
I had a defective Blackberry Pearl and just received my new one. Of course now I want to update all of my contacts to my new one and thought I'd try to use the PocketMac software to sync my mac to my old one, and then continue by syncing my mac to my new one to transfer the contacts over. I have not been successful and can't figure out why... it appears to be syncing but then finished the process on the new blackberry and appears to have only grabbed a few contacts.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ron

Hi and welcome to EB:
I am not a Mac user, but I will try to pass along what I have read and been seeing. First, what version PM are you using? Be sure to use the most recent, 4.1.215 I believe (from BB here).
Another issue I noticed is to insure you are logged on to your account as an Admin when installing the PM application, but that seems to be an issue that causes the program to fail more than miss syncing a number of records.
Frankly, after looking at the PocketMac help site, I am not sure how on top of things they are. You should try them out to see if they can help if you are already running the most current version.
I have also seen a great deal of chatter that many find Mark Space's product, MissingSync to be superior. Although it is not free, many seem to rationalize that the wear and tear saved on their brains is well worth the purchase price.
YMMV
I hope you are successful. Please let us know...

THIS IS RIGHT ON! I found that the $40 was well worth it. When I tried MissingSync the 1st time, it produced errors as well, BUT it told me exactly why the error occurred, and once I corrected it (took comma's out of the group names in my address book) it worked perfectly.

Bottom line, the problem may also have been fixed with PocketMac once I took the commas out, but the error message did not indicate the problem or offer any suggestions, so was not helpful at all. MissingSync is definitely a SUPERIOR product and worth the $40 just for that reason.

hmmm looks like I may have to give Missing Sync a try. The incompatibility with Mac has been my one big gripe about Blackberry. Thanks for the good info Ron.
