Jott
I just signed up for Jott, I have considered it in the past and it now is beyond beta with 3 plans, one is still free, I signed up for the Pro plan as it's the only one with Blackberry integration. Still a bit of a novelty, but I think it will be quite handy as I drive quite a bit and am often tempted to send quick e-mails while driving. Jott will give me the ability to dictate a response to an e-mail and the voice message is transposed to an e-mail and delivered to the reply address. I can also use preloaded contact address's, call Jott and have a voice message delivered as an e-mail, plus much much more. Just wondering if anyone else has used Jott and curious as to what others experiences have been,

Cutting edge stuff there braxtoq. Please do post some reviews after you have tried it out. At $13 a month it seems a bit pricey, but if you find it helpful that could be .........priceless!
I am curious about the process. If you are responding to an email while driving, does that mean you have to read the email while driving, or do they read it to you? Or do you read it while in an office or hotel and respond while driving? I see it also handles texts?
I do wonder if IT policies could be violated reading a response to an outside system that may wind up being "cleaned up" by an individual somewhere in a bunker hidden under two miles of bedrock (I know, a bit over-dramatic). That also seems to indicate that will be sent through their servers or is this over phone lines to an email address????
Here is a thread at another site you might find of interest and it includes one users personal review keeping in mind it was still beta then.
Please keep us posted on this.....
Thanks,
SteveTaz

Thanks for the thoughts SteveTaz, it's nice to be on the cutting edge from time to time. It is a bit pricy, I am going to use it heavily for the first month to see how useful it is. You would have to read the e-mail first to use the reply feature on a Blackberry. there is a "Reply with Jott" and "Reply all with Jott" selection that is added to the menu within an open e-mail. When one of those are selected, there is a voice prompt to press any key to start your message and then any key to end the message and send the reply. This is in speaker mode, but you can turn the prompts off and toggle to handset mode. I am a bit concerned about security as I have just read they use a large staff in India that listens to the voice messages and they then convert to text and send the e-mails on. As that could be an IT issue, I will only be responding to non-confidential e-mails using Jott Reply. Also of some concern is the fact that the e-mail comes from Jott on behalf of me and there is some Jott self promo info attached.

Where did you see that? I was under the impression it is all done through automated voice recognition software that has a trigger if a high error rate is detected. That alerts a team to review manually. Of course, depending on how many users there are and what the actual error rate is that could require a large staff.

I thought signing up for the Pro paid version was supposed to eliminate the ads? BTW...Did you look into the Pay-As-You-Go version? I thought that also applied to the BB.
I do hope you have fun with it and that it turns out to be a good thing for you....

Update!! I removed Jott from my Blackberry and Outlook calendar and sent them a message that I wanted to cancel, still no word back from them. Many problems with them recognizing my messages and transcribing improperly, also I just wanted to send e-mails, not text, problem is they send to both if your contacts have a cell number listed. Also, the e-mails sent are not professional as they have ads for Jott, costs too much for all of those issues, but wait, theres more, my Outlook calendar kept giving me weird problems with Jott's toolbar running, I could not open a calendar entry without shutting the toolbar down and re-opening Outlook, now I'm testing Vlingo, looks cool, cost is much better.......Freeeee!

You are just the techno geek, aren't you.
Thanks for the update on Jott, but I am sorry it didn't work out for you.
I have seen some pretty good comments about vlingo along with a few cautions. First is that there may be issues with 4.5 and 4.6 (Bold) OS versions. I see in their FAQs they don't offer any guarantees either. More or less, "Hey, give it a shot". They actually state they don't officially support 4.5 or 4.6.
The other is that you must be sure you are fully aware of their license (underlining is mine):
"We collect information that you speak or type into a vlingo text box. This is turned into statistical information which vlingo’s speech servers use to adapt to your individual voice in order to provide you with a better experience and for product improvement. We do not and can not use the information we collect from you to identify you as an individual or to identify your device.
We collect names of individuals and companies that appear in your address book, in order to provide a high quality service when you speak a contact name. We do not collect any other information associated with these names such as addresses or phone numbers. We will never use these names to contact anyone for any reason, and we have no way of associating these names with unique individuals or of linking them back to you."
While they state they don't use the information I suppose if you were the paranoid type it could give you pause.
[Turns to look behind and see who is there]
Please do let us know your experiences and I am guessing you will be able to give this a better test as you don't have the pressure of canceling before the billing cycle.
Thanks for being there and posting....

Hey SteveO, I'm still here, not as much lately, this here economical downturn has impacted my leisure time somewhat, feeling the need to work harder than my co-horts. Thanks for the heads up on the update, I will try it out. I've been laying low, waiting on the Storm, now I'm bummed that I will have to pay full retail unless I wait until July for my VIP New every 2 early update discount....retail price is too steep, maybe Verizon will try to get me to bite with a loyal customer early upgrade deal?
