Upon trying to download BeeJive, the site shows that the app is not compatible with the Storm and maybe early '09 before it's Storm ready.

Am I missing something here?

that's correct.

Try the free RIM IM applications from the blackberry website until then. They work pretty well

thanks Aggie!

I do like the RIM IM apps, but when I saw there was one that can fuse them all together I got excited....

not sure if IM+ has a version out for the storm yet, but you might search and see. they always put out a pretty good app with all of the IM services combined in one.

Pre-release version available:
Pre-release version for BlackBerry Storm is available. Download and try now! Registered users will get free updates.

Take a look here and evaluate. I believe they have a trial available.

Not sure if that is also $49.99!!

BeeJive wasn't available for my Bold. I can't remember what I did, but I downloaded a different version and it works perfectly.

Let me add Viigo to this list. I use Google reader, but was pleased to find out that Viigo will sync with my Reader account. There isn't a native Google reader account, so Viigo fits the bill.

Tried Newsgator but did not like it. Slow and just clunky.

One self-demerit for me.
