Sadly I don't think there is anything comarable for BB out there....yet.
AT&T does have a service called MusicID that you dial a couple of digits, hold the phone to the speaker and hang up. A text is sent in moments identifying the song, HOWEVER since it is from AT&T I think it only works on the Bold, Curve and any AT&T phone and oh yeah, they charge $.99 for each correct ID.
Shazam has made a similar one for other mobile phones, ShazamiD but that is only for UK users.
Give it time....

Thanks steve. The thing that I like about shazam was that if I didn't have a song on my computer I could tag it then go back to the app and it gives me a list of tagged songs.

There is no doubt it is a very, very cool app.

Video for the Storm
I just got myself a storm and I am just getting used to having a blackbery device vs a windows mobile device which takes a little getting used to but is there any 3rd party app that will let me play anything other than mp4? I also want to believe those who claim they got their sling mobile to work for the storm 9530 but I've done what has been talked about in this form and haven't had the same sucess.

Hi and jacobjer and welcome to EB:
These are the media formats supported by the Storm:
-MPEG4 H.263, MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.264, WMV (Video format support)
-MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WMA ProPlus (Audio format support)
Here is a full chart at BlackBerry.com with even more detail.
You shouldn't need third-party apps to play anything other than MP4. Can you give us a bit more detail as to what you are trying to play and if you got error messages what those messages were?
Regarding SlingPlayer, I do not believe the Storm is supported yet so I don't know what you were following here at EB Forums. Can you post a link? Also, that does require the SlingBox equipment at home. Are you set up with that already? If you have a TV tuner card you might be able to watch TV using orb.com. This is according to member rudeboy.

You are correct, but that isn't even included in the listed formats on the BB Storm spec sheet:
Media Player
Video format support: MPEG4 H.263, MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.264, WMV
Audio format support: MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WMA ProPlus

Thanks for the reply - I do have a sling player and had previously had the mobile app on my QC. I loved it. I'm going to email Sling and try to get someone to give us an eta for our storms. As far as playing video - I have used a program called pocket pc wizard and compress dvds to 300 meg wmv's and even though my Q will play them my storm says "An error has occured attempting to play media" no details or anything else. I've used the same software to covery wmvs to mp4's and avi's. I'm sure I'll get it eventualy but sooner is beter....

You may have to look into the converter you are using to see if it specifically notes it is compatible with the BlackBerry OS. Could be the screen size or frame rate conversion won't work. There are a number of converters made specifically for BB playback and if you use the search function here at EB and enter "video" (no quotes) as the search term you will find a few threads about it....
