Default Sites For Free Software???

I haven't seen any concise post with a listing of free software a user may have found or wants to know if others have any experience with. Perhaps this could be the first? I hope I haven't repeated something already here that I can't find for some unknown reason. I also do not intend to step on the EB Free software section. Note that I am mostly listing things found by search and have not personally tested yet. Some are of interest and others I thought may be of interest to others. That said, here goes:

-Handmark I just installed Blackjack and I keep waiting to see a "Your Trial Has Ended". I didn't see any notes about expiring but hey, all those printed term are so small...NOTE that the link is from your device. Same as the "Free Games" link from the BB standard homepage under "Games". So far so good. Good to have a Brickbreaker option.

-bPhone for BlackBerry - shown to me by user hnsimpson (thanks) Great change to the look and although freeware I am very impressed. I just had to insert a black background for the full effect.

-BlackBerryFreeware has some interesting items, especially Rove, a file manager. Hopefully as useful as FileZ on the old Treo. I will probably try this one over the weekend.

-Beyond411 appears to be popular.

All for now...

SoftReset- User braxtoq suggested this simple program to reset your device instead of performing a battery pull. Much easier!

Note that other boards indicate this does not release as much memory as the battery pull, but I did check on my 8830. There was no difference. However, I will be testing further as we all know one test doth not a validation make.

Thanks braxtoq!!!

This one looks interesting.....A suite of three mobile learning/reference tools that are FREE. They can be downloaded individually or as a set. I might just try it out this weekend.

gWhiz
NOTE: gWhiz currently runs on BlackBerry phones with software version 4.2 or higher (including BlackBerry Pearl and Curve models)

Here is another that looks very promising....

This page is a review along with some good instructions at BerryReview.com. You will also find a link to the download. This is a direct link to the download page so you can do an OTA installation. I read that the author is in the process of putting together a FAQ page so there is really nothing else but a link to the download and another program he authored, SMS QuickCompose. The claim is that up to 5MB or more can be reclaimed, depending on exactly which files you choose to delete

I suggest you read the review and instructions before jumping in. I am thinking this holiday weekend may be a good time to try this out.

A number of cautions:
1) Make sure you have a full backup before trying anything like this. You should look at the Advanced Backup to be sure you know what is being backed up.
2) If you are on BES, DO NOT remove MDS.
3) If you choose to remove the VAD (Voice Activated Dialing) then Options > About will be disabled. Note that you can still access that information by two different shortcuts:
-Hold Alt + press E then A then C then E (opens the "Help Me" screen), or
-Alt +Caps + H (opens the "Help Me" screen
4) No one will accept responsibility for any loss of data or any issues that may arise from installing this. INSTALL AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

If you try it out, post your experiences....
