Okay we all mostly know about Verizons wonderfull 5gb cap on the broadband aspect.
Verizon states that the phones useage of EvDO is non-capped.
My question is if i use pdanet on the storm which supposity uses the BB Direct TCP will i be seen as using tethering or just phone traffic. I see many other apps on the Storm that use DirectTCP and thats just considered phone traffic. I figure verizon may have some interlace to see what your phone is up to.
I already pay $15 for tethering and its capped and im looking into purchasing pdanet for BB scince i had it on my motoQ (sprint).
What do you guys think?

VZW does have an "unlimited" usage, but in the fine print there is a 5GB threshold that they reserve the right to cut you off at as it is considered excessive and improper usage. They used to have the limit at 15GB, then 10GB, and now 5GB.
I wasn't aware PDANet was available for BBs. It was a great little program for my old Treo. Take a look and let us know if it ismade for BBs, but I don't think so.
Finally, what is it you think using a PDANet-type program will do for you? The account usage will still exceed the 5GB if you have tethering and try using a different vehicle. I am not clear what you think it will do for you...

My hope is to get rid of $15 every month and pay one time for PdaNet.
I figure i could still get knocked off for going too far over 5gb.

Im seeing about 150Kbps download and 40Kbps upload, its about the same with me tethered into Verizon broadband access.

Mostly anyone will say on EverythingQ site is that it "somewhat" gives you a legal "out" if the provider starts hassling you about going over the limit. I have never read where anyone got "yelled" at from there using this software, so it might be a good thing?
(I used less than honorable means to tether) <---shhhhhh!!!!
Its still in beta but, Ive tested it so far without any phone restarts and on the Storm and consistant connection.
Pros:
No more tethering $15 a month crap, just a one time cost.
Acceptable data rates IMO.
Uses Direct TCP.. So no proxies.
Cons:
Storm was getting a little warm using it but not like a hot potato.
Not free.
Im already paying for unlimited data on my phone... watch not to go over 5gb because i imagine they will still see this as a violation....
