2 new icons from Verizon??

About 2 days ago 2 new icons just showed up. VCast Song ID and Vzw Tones. I didn't ask for them. Has anybody else here seen this?

I believe that VZW has added those to the apps available for their BB Customers.

You received them because they were "pushed" to your device with a Service Book. You will not be able to delete them because if you do they will keep reappearing as Service Books are pushed by the network.

If you aren't interested in trying the apps what you can do is either create a "Junk" folder and move them into it or simply hide the icons.

As I understand it the Song ID app is free to use, but will use data. I believe it is like Shazam....Hold your phone near a speaker and you will be provided with the title and artist. Not sure what the other does and if it is free.

I also think that the icon appearing is only a shortcut to download and install the apps.....

I'm certainly not what you would call upset over it but it just goes to show that this isn't my phone. I guess I just pay Verizon for the privilege to use their phone, and they can do whatever they please with it.

The SongID application is pretty accurate. It was able to identify 10 of 10 songs correctly from the rock, rap, disco, instrumental, pop, to oldies.

Pretty cool program.

Yes and that is why it is so odd for Verizon to be offering it. First they actually began including GPS in the Storm instead of disabling it and now this!
