auto correct

how do i "decline" a word that is being auto corrected? The BB will change the word then i have to hit backspace for my word to come back, thats annoying...how can i just tell it to not change it??

I personally just turned off the auto correct... however, before doing so, I noticed that if it gives you a word, just click your screen next to the word and it will disappear.
