Storm Specific Tips/Tricks
In honor of SteveTaz's great thread containing Tips/Tricks for the BlackBerry, I thought I would start one up for some Storm specific stuff. With the new OS, comes a new way of doing things. Those of us who are new to RIM devices (me), and those of you who have been using them forever, all have a few things to learn with this Berry. I've collected these from various forums, videos, blog posts, hours of playing around, and probably other sources too. I'm not giving anyone credit, because that would require me to go back and find out exactly where I heard it. I'll just let you know that 99% of these were not discovered by me, just compiled by me. Alright, enough blabbering!
Search for all e-mail/texts from one sender
Go into your inbox and highlight a message from the desired sender, don't press down, but just leave your finger there for a few seconds and all the messages will show up. Great way to eliminate all those texts from your pesky ex at once!
Select multiple messages
Again, go into your inbox, touch the top message that you want selected, then touch a message below that, all the messages in between should be highlighted. You can scroll down and the messages will continue to highlight by the lowest one you touch. Once you have all the desired messages selected, you can delete them, or move them or do whatever with them. Big time saver for clearing out that busy SMS box.
Edit something you are typing
While in the edit box, touch the sentence that you want to edit, when the blue box turns into a little rectangle, slide to the position where you want to make the edit. I haven't quite mastered this yet, so be ready for the barrage of typos in my posts coming from the Storm...And I'm a horrible speller!
More easily browse your inbox
While you are viewing your messages, if you swipe your finger from right to left, it will take you to a newer message. And you guessed it! Go from left to right, and you can see an older message.
Zooming on the camera
Ready for your close up? When you are in the camera, slide your finger from bottom to top to zoom in, and from top to bottom to zoom out.
Num/Caps Lock
To put the keyboard in either NumLock or CapsLock mode simply hold down the "!?123" or "aA" respectively for a second or so. Helps with those passwords that have several numbers grouped together.
That all for now, feel free to add your own. Give us some time and we will all have this niftly little thing figured out

Nice job and in honor of your effort I think this deserves to be the first sticky in the Storm forum!!
Hopefully others will jump in and really dissect this new OS.

To speed up keyboard when typing
go to options>screen/keyboard and set Tap Interval to 100, Hover period to 100 and Swipe sensitivity to 6.
Also to ease some of the lag, if you don't use VZ navigator or Visual Voicemail, delete them from your device (options>advanced options>applications). This has helped a little for me. You can always add them back through the application center.

additional tips:
to go to Event Log (ALT+LGLG) on your storm hold !?123 then press "/"/
to quickly show keyboard, swipe from bottom - up and vice versa to quickly hide it
when in "lock mode" hold the mute button to switch to vibrate and back
holding down the Blackberry Menu button brings up the app switcher
double click the menu button and it will either open, reply or send a message
while playing an mp3 you can use the volume on the side to control volume but if you hold it down it will switch song

Green Call button--> BB Menu button--> Options--> Voicemail--> Password
type you password there, save and then try it out. It should auto-input your password.

Ringtones
it seems many formats can be set as custom ringtones/alerts. I have .wav .mp3 and moded .wav set to individual contacts.
these formats (and probably others) can all be read from the 'ringtones' folder.
to find your folder: Media--> lightly touch ringtones icon--> BB menu--> Explore--> Media Card (I keep mine in media card, though there is a ringtones folder in device memory)--> BlackBerry--> Ringtones-->
so far, any format I've "moved" to this folder I've been able to attach to a contact.
