Default Just returned from the local Verizon store...

with my first replacment Tour, still having issues with Visual Voicmail locking up the device every other time I check a new message (powering off/on followed by selecting "OK" at the "Runtime Exception" message resolves). Verizon says that is a known issue and will be fixed with an August 13th update. Big issue was trackball locking up and not responsive with horizontal action, seems to be quite a few out there with this problem, plus when I hit a key selection to type a contact name from the home screen, the first key outputs the key selection twice, like it is physically sticking. Hopefully the replacment will not have these issues! Stay tuned!

braxtoq, sorry to hear about the issues and I certainly hope they are resolved soon.

Would hate to see you give up on the Tour and disappear from EB again....

Default Still working (Mostly)

OK time for an update on my Tour.... the replacment does not have the same issue I was experiencing with the trackball, hopefully it will not return. Still having the lock ups followed by an exception error on reboot when tring to access a visual voice mail message (a bit less frequently now, maybe every 4-5 times) Also have noticed when using my BlueAnt Bluetooth headset that every once in a while I seem to connect to a contact but there is not communication, I do not hear anything. I disconnect and redial and it works then every time!

braxtoq, glad you are still at it. I have seen many posts indicating initial shipments may have had bad trackballs and subsequent shipments are improved. Hope that is true for you.

Only a few mentions of locking issues with VVM. No solutions I have seen, but seems to be a very limited issue. I wonder if an OS reinstall would help? Either that or wait for the first update.

Not many mentions of BT problems. Those that I saw related to connection with laptops or car systems.

I did speak with Verizon customer service and they are well aware of the VVM issue, he said since it wasn't their "product" all he could suggest is remove it and wait for the updated version, in which case he would apply a credit or live with it until the update's available. I chose to live with it since it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, even with the lock up issues. I probably would not live with it if it required a battery pull to reset, that takes forever!
As for the connection problem that seems to be bluetooth related, I have had the same issue without the headset, not often enought to be a problem for me.

Have you seen any improvement in the reboot time since the device has had lots of time to do the indexing and all?

I understand users are seeing monumental times, 6-7 minutes!!!

Yikes!!!

Hopefully you don't have to do that too often. Let's see what the first software update brings....When it gets here.....

Hard to understand why this model requires such an extreme amount of time to recover from a hard reset. It's not like they haven't written an OS for a handheld before....

Default iiiitttttssss baaaaaccckkkk!!!!!!

Trackball issues that is, same thing as the first, it started out with the occasional problem while trying to copy and paste data from an e-mail, after a couple of days it has gotten progressivley worse, only with horizontal motion, just as before. I also am noticing something I was experiencing with the first Tour but forgot to mention. When typing a name from the home screen, the first key pressed is displayed twice, I have to delete to get the name I am trying to pull up to call (eg. I type "s" then "t" for my wife, Stephanie, I get "SSt").

I did call customer service at Verizon and was told it is a software issue (Trackball problem) and the next release will fix it, I pressed further and said I did not think so, and I hear RIM is sending out updated Tours with the issue resolved, I was then put on hold for about 10 min. and lo and behold she said she must have missed the e-mails indicating what I had told her, so an updated Tour is on the way, I'll keep you posted further when I receive the device!
