4th quarter Verizon is coming out with many 'new' devices...old to everyone else, but new to Verizon.

Does anyone have a list of what the supposed "new items" will be?

Hi:

I assume you mean as of now, not October 2007...

Here is what I have seen in no particular order:
Kickstart/Seawolf - 82XX - Flip phones
Bold - 9000 - First 3g
Thunder - 9500
Javelin - 8900 - Rumored to be a Bold without 3g

Time will tell.....

I really like the look and extra features of the Bold 9000. I seems to be a really sophisticated phone. The Thunder is the touchscreen version?? which is not really my thing; nor are the flips. BB's are the best phones I have ever come accross. I was a committed Nokia user, but I wanted something with a Qwerty and more features/capabilities. I was looking at the super chunky Nokia E90 communicator, but my service provider suggested a BB. I looked into BB's for three months before taking the leap and have not looked back. I intend to upgrade every chance I get to the newer BB's

I agree. The Bold looks like a really nice device.

Now they have to release it here...Latest guesses are now for AT&T to release it:
September 12
September 15
October 2
October 6

Depends on what forum you look at or what website you read.

<sigh>

Our release dates in Aus will be well after yours; but it is definately a phone worth looking at. One thing I did seem to read was that either the standby or talk time was less than the curve. Do you have any info on that?

Hi:

When you say standby or talk time I assume you mean the battery.

From what I have been reading there are two possible issues that may be causing battery life shorter than previous BBs...3G chews up batteries faster than EVDO or EDGE and the newer OS, v4.6.

However, 3G should not eat battery life unless it is searching for a signal or in actual use. Apparently, when in operation 3G use does use battery life a bit faster.

I also understand there are OS tweaks available from RIM that do stabilize battery life in some cases.

That and the fact that it is a very cool device on a fast network and the users are in patterns of use they aren't normally.

I think in a short time stories about poor battery life will all but fade away or at least be only a minor issue for a few.

True. I think the Bold will surpass those rumors once it has its committed user portfolio. Besides which, you can always pick up xtra batteries and a wide variety of chargers for keeping the phone on the go. I must say that it is good to see that RIM do excell in providing important accessories to keep their users happy and "mobile" so to speak.
