It's not that they hate Wi-Fi, they just want users using their data network (can't think of the right word).

I know how you're feeling. Palm Pre- most likely out of the question. It's Sprint.
The 9630- Verizon. Also out of the question.
The image of the 9900 said Q3 which is towards the end of the year. The iPhone- Most likely June/July. I'll sell the iPhone a little bit before the next developers conference (not the one next Tuesday) and I'll use that money for the iPhone. (Depending on what AT&T's doing, I might not have to sell it.)
So since the 9900 is most likely coming out towards the end of the year, I'll buy it a little after release, maybe selling my Bold and 8800, or just the 8800 and pay the difference for the 9900. What'cha think!?

and, isnt apple just announcing 3.0 software for iphone 3g? not new iphone?....
Next Tuesday, Apple's having a preview for the new 3.0 OS and probably the new SDK. You can bet on a new iPhone NOT being released. They're most likely doing the same thing as last year: March- New iPhone OS (big upgrade) preview + SDK. June/July- New iPhone.
I don't know if AT&T will give discounts for current users still in contract. The iPhone 3G (if you bought it early for the discounted price) was subsidized and you have to go through with your current subsidy before you're eligible for a new one. Luckily for me, I don't have to worry about this. My contract is only a one year deal. AT&T lets me upgrade early because I have 2 lines over $100 each. They do that for all customers with at least one $100+ line. Also, the early upgrade also depends on your "reputation" as well. Meaning if you're never late in payment, etc.
Lastly, there are rumors that AT&T will let you trade in your current phone and get it appraised for a certain value that will be your discount on the new iPhone. Again, this is just a rumor, nothing has been confirmed.

HAHA. The 8800, I traded for an old Verizon smartphone I can't use, and the Pearl is from work. Thanks though.
