    Email address in profiles window

    Morning all -

On my friends BlackBerry, she has an email address in the Messages section of Profiles.

But, that email address is NOT in her BIS account, and it's NOT showing in her Service Books.

So, question is, how to remove said item? Example below of the screen I'm talking about...

Hi naviwilliams and welcome to EB:

Can you clarify....Did your friend just get this BB? Was it used by someone else previously, perhaps in a corporation?

If the device is new to her and she just set up the accounts, make sure that she has done a battery pull, with the device on, remove the battery, count to 20, replace the battery and let it reboot completely.

    Any change?

    Thanks for the welcome!

The device is a new one she bought a while back. BUT, today we installed .297, via the AT&T update option. A while back, way back, she did have said email address as a service book on her BlackBerry. But, we removed it quite a while back...

I find this one really odd, and I know my way around a BlackBerry and a BES server. I've never seen this before...

I checked Desktop Manager, and did an advanced restore, but still couldn't see anything relating to that email addres.

In Options > Advanced Options > Default Services > Messaging(CMIME), do you see the offending Email address listed as one of the selections?

...sorry, I should have said, I checked there, too. And, it's not listed.

I think a resolution might be to connect to Desktop Manager, backup\restore and use the advanced feature. Then remove\clear profiles.

The downside to that is the user would have to re-setup all their profile settings. On feature I wish one could configure on a pc, and then download to a BlackBerry

Either that or you could try to use the BIS site to delete all addresses, battery pull and then try setting up the BIS addresses again from acratch.

You did say the address appearing is a BIS one, correct?

I am assuming you tried the ever popular (Re)register the Host Routing Tables and resent the Service Books too?

Thus far, yes, I re-registered and did the service book option. The one thing I didn't do, which is a brilliant idea is the removal of all email accounts and then a battery pull...

I'll call the user and advise that. Brilliant, thanks for that idea.

    It worked!

Thanks for all the help. We remove all accounts from BIS. Then did a battery pull, and re-added said email accounts. The dodgy email account is GONE from profiles!

Excellent news!!! Now you can say it was brilliant....

Glad she is up and running and I am sure she is please she didn't have to rebuild all of her device profiles....

Remember to stop by often and pass along some of the expertise you have developed from being a BES Admin....
