How to text a cell phone

I have the new world edition and cannot for the life of me figure out how to text a cell phone. I have an email program (lotus notes) but that requires a valid email address. When I go into the phone program, there is no choice to send a text. Is it possible???

Here's another method:

1. Type the name of the contact.
2. Select the contact (middle button)
3. Select SMS Text contact name
