    Opera Mini 5 Beta 2

I'm not sure if I am behind or perhaps found something new. This version blows the 4.2 away. My only complaint is, you can't use your BlackBerry button to pull up spell check.

How about some details as to what you like?

I don't know which version aggie is up to, but he had posted this about the v1 and then a follow-up, version unknown. Maybe he should take another look. Let him know in that thread to wake him up, okay?

Well, its far easier on the eyes, a lot cleaner. On the home screen, there are 9 "hot buttons" you can set 6 of them for favorites. However I have yet to figure out how to change them once set. From what I read, you can open multiple tabs, I haven't made it that far yet. Now when the email for your post came through, when I hit the link and it asked if I wanted to open with OM5, which is nice as, I use this for EB. To me who has aging eyes its easier to see, crisper. It doesn't open the full page when you are entering user names/passwords or searching on Google.

Now, I've only been playing with it for a couple hours, keeping in mind its Beta status, so I might find some issues. I will plug away and see what I find. I have found the curser with the track ball is a bit funky, perhaps this is something they are working on. I recall trying to download Opera on the Treo and was never happy with it. Since I've had my Berry, I use it more than the native browser as I can access my bank accts with it. I keep looking for skyefire to be released, and Bolt is a dead app walking.

    blueonblackstrat:

Well, you got me. I removed 4.2 and installed 5.2 Beta. Very pretty to look at. I found the opening page confusing as to what to do and using the BB Menu key only brings up their graphic version of the menu bar with nothing marked so it will take some time to figure out how to customize that front page.

I am finding the cursor movement to be very labored and not too accurate.

I like the layout with the boxes of your favorites, but one is BBC News, which is not my first news choice. I can't figure out how to delete that or at least modify the URL. Any help you can offer would be nice.

Next, of course I set up a link to EB and that appeared quickly. I wanted to edit that just to see if I could edit one that I set up and I can't see how to modify that one either. Next, when I went to the Forum link EB detected I was on a mobile device and opened the mobile site, which is fine. Then I tried to select the link to General so I could respond to this thread and I could not get the cursor to highlght the link. One other I couldn't highlight is the Curve Forum. Grrrr.

I selected the BlackBerry Sub Forum and that allows me to go to the General and Curve Forums so they are accessible, but jeeeeez, it's like work.

I will play some more, but so far I am not impressed.

The jerky cursor movement is a real pain....

I agree, the curser is working my last nerve. I have yet to figure out how to change a hot button once its set. I'm gonna play some more in the morning, I have to unload in Memphis. So I will have time.

I've played with it some more, I have yet to figure out how to remedy the issues we talked about last night. I had to come inside to wait to be unloaded. I have a friend who wants to talk... Its a curse I have, everyone wants to be my buddy!

I looked at the support faq's and didn't find anything... I will keep plugging away.

To remove a Speed Dial, such as BBC, push the trackball in and hold for a couple seconds, release and a pop up comes up and gives you the option to edit/remove.

Thanks for the update. I couldn't tolerate the cursor annoyances so I removed. I will probably circle back to try it in another few updates...

Keep us posted. It sure sounds like you are determined to stick with it so you must see something you like....

Steve, I will keep at it, I'm hard headed lol. As far as the curser, that was the basis for my Beta question about a week ago. Now, I had been having trouble with my phone lagging a bit. It was doing a lot of "thinking". Once I downloaded OM5, I wanted to see if may be other issues causing it. After I removed Quick Launch, it seems to be b etter. So if they can tweek on the fly under the same revision... Or it was QL. Its better.

Speaking of tweeks. This site looks great on the. Berry.
