Default Hello Everyone... Newbie Here...

I am new in this forum, however, not new in the "everything ***" forums. I am a member of everything q forum. In less than 16 hours, I will hold in my hands my brand new Blackberry Curve 8900 with at&t.

One thing that I noticed, and I do apologize upfront if I am wrong, but I don't see a dedicated forum for the Curve 8900 for at&t... maybe not enough members with this type of Curve.

Coming from the Q forum, I have many questions that I have searched for answers in this community, unfortunately, I do not understand some answers.

My number one question is about tethering... with my Q9h, I learned and used some modifications which allowed me to tether with my unlimited plan and not incur additional charges nor had to get a "special tether plan." Would someone please explain to me in plain English if I am going to be able to use my 8900 as a modem for my laptop on that "special Blackberry plan" I had to switch to from at&t without incurring additional charges other than the monthly recurring charge for the bb plan? Do I have to do any modifications to the phone, or anything special to avoid additional charges for data transfer.

I do appreciate everyone's advice and answers, and I want to thank you all in advance. As I give myself a one month learning curve, no pun intended, I will learn everything I can about my new toy, and hopefully help out other fellow members. I apologize for the lengthy intro...

Hi dj_juane and welcome to EB:

I have to respond quickly and leave for work so pardon the rush.

Take a look on these boards for posts about TetherBerry and PDANet, which can provide what you are looking for. Note that they are not free, but both now offer free trials to make sure they will do what you need before you purchase.

Here is one thread that includes links to both to get you started. Pay attention to one users experiences in the last few posts.....

Please visit and post often....

Thank you very much for the response. I will look at the thread in a bit... I am currently unboxing my new toy... Man, I hope I am not disappointed with it . Anywho, I'll report back later with my findings.

Welcome. Hope you enjoy the new toy. BTW, TetherBerry works great. On the Windows side. Still having issues with Mac Beta.
