Anybody else checking out the Palm Pre?
Just curious. I've seen a couple members from EB over at ePre. Hoping there are others so I don't feel so guilty

I have been checking it out, but as you know my BB is paid by my company and I have no intention of spending any of my own money for anything.
The daughter's TMo BB Curve has another 11 months on the contract....
I do want to keep up with the Pre and Palm though as I did have a very long history with Palm. I am hoping this is successful for them because if it is not, this will be the death of Palm.....

I don't blame you one bit. My AT&T line is paid by my company as well, but I have a problem and must feed it lol

same here. I've had a few Palms and I really liked them until the Moto Q came along, and then Apple changed everything. And then I got my first BB and it was love at first site. I hope it is successful because in the long run we all benefit from competition. It is definitely different than anything Palm has done before and might give them a needed jolt. I'm going to buy one and give it a spin although i'll never give up my Bold or iPhone.

I was messing around with the Pre for a while Saturday. I really liked everything about it. Even the keyboard. I have pretty large hands and I didn't have any trouble with the keys or bumping up on the bottom edge of the "screen half" of the Pre. One thing I will say about the edges is that they were pretty sharp. It was way smaller than I imagined, lighter too. Overall, it was a very nice feel and didn't feel plasticky either. The one I was looking at had the back cover that comes with the Touchstone which has a matte black finish, so I'm sure that helped reduce the plasticky feel of it. The touch-screen was pretty responsive, and dare I say better than the Storm, IMO. Very iPhone-like. The browser was impressive as well. Very very very iPhone-like, which is a good thing. I have to say I really like webOS. Palm did a very good job and the whole cards thing is plain genius. Multi-tasking was great. I read some reviews saying that the speakers weren't all that loud. Maybe their Pre had an issue or something because the speakers on the one I was using were LOUD. I really really REALLY liked the way Palm did notifications in webOS. I was texting a few friends with it and played the pre-installed music so I got a good feel for it. Non-intrusive at all, yet still did it's job: notifying you. There's no way I'm going to Sprint though. I like GSM too much. With that said, I'm very sad that I won't be getting the Pre. I really liked this damn phone. Oh well, I'll try waiting for the Eos.

not impressed with the specs on the EOS at all.
The Pre is awesome although I have a few gripes.
Not sure I'll switch to Sprint but it is good enough to at least have me considering it.

The Pre is why I now own a Black Berry. I looked at it on day one and ordered a BB the next day.

Anything in particular that really pushed you over the edge?

I'd have to say the keyboard, just didn't feel right. Also I was a bit concerned about the durability of the device the way it slides.
I love the BB. There is one or two things I miss. The clock that changes time zones is one problem.
I don't miss the touch screen, it took a few days to stop pecking at the screen though.
