You can either add them with their BlackBerry email address or their PIN number.

To be clear THEY do not need an email address. PIN messaging is only from BlackBerry to BlackBerry. It is not routed over an email system and also requires that both sender and receiver have a BB Data plan. PIN messaging cannot be done with any device other than a BlackBerry.

It's like a secret society...

i'm going to sound stupid but i have a question i'm hoping someone will have the answer to.. i'm in Canada and my brother is in England, he's given me his Pin number but whenever i send him a msg it never goes through, i get a msg status as Transaction error - timeout.

i've tried sending a pin inputting his pin number as the address and then putting his pin in my address book and sending it via his name but i've had the same responce on both occasions.

any offers of advice??

Are you both on BlackBerry data plans? You need to be or else things like BB Messenger and PIN messages won't work.
