Hey Steve, Thanks. Job? I think I know what those are..wait let me Google it & make sure I'm right.
We have to re-model our upstairs bathroom but we keep putting it off. We keep telling ourselves that we are the only ones who ever sees it. But I think it's in the near future. It's getting painful to walk in there compared to the rest of the house.
Are you doing a theme? Getting new everything? Putting in a spa tub? Now, that would be nice coming home to after a stressful day.
And I asked hubby to let rb know what was going on. Well, he did for all the world to see! When I asked him if he let rb know I was in the hospital all he said was "Yes" & when I saw what he posted I started laughing. He did not tell me he logged on, etc...
    He's a good guy!
Again, thanks for the Welcome home!!!
No Thank You button so I can't push the button.
I will try to Thank You tomorrow for the Welcome Home.

Taking it down to the studs and starting over. Same size and basic layout, but removing the fiberglass tub and surround and putting in a real bathtub (no whirlpool or spa) with a porcelain tile (with glass tile insets) surround and a porcelain tile floor.

I am crushed right now though. It took me three weeks to decide on the vanity. Ordered it and was advised it would be delayed by a couple of weeks, but they did a nice thing discounting and offering expedited shipping when available at their cost....all you would hope for, right? Just yesterday they advised the manufacturer will now be delayed until June. They offered the discount and upgraded shipping toward something else or if I want to cancel they understand. It is just that this was the only vanity that caught my attention and I don't know what to do now. Waiting until June is tough as I wanted to finish this before the daughter came home from college for the summer.

Here is the unit to give you an idea of my taste. It is made by a company in Australia and there are only two distributors in the US that carry it. 100% wood (not that MDF or laminate crap) and looks like a top quality vanity with vessel sink and faucet included at a very attractive price.

The main fear is that as June approaches, what if the manufacturer then says not until July or it is discontinued?

I already paid for the tile and it is in the garage, the new vent, light, heater fan assembly arrived yesterday, the new window was ordered and is due in next week.

Well I have whined long enough and I don't want to give you a relapse....

    <sigh>

Nice!!! I like the clean look of it. But having to wait would drive me crazy, also. Can you put something there as a temporary solution till you can get it installed?

This one took my fancy & may have to build my own cabinet (lack of a better term) to show it off. I think something with Plexiglas would really set this off as an architectural statement. Never worked with plexiglas, just wood so I'm thinking I better have a very good template made with no errors in dimensions. Wood is more forgiving, you can always make it work somehow.

Good luck on the bathroom remodel.

Geek, that is a very unusual sink and quite the conversation piece.

But what if you need a sink of water to rinse a few undergarments for example?

I guess a person could keep a bucket in the bathroom or closet? I never really thought about it. But it's a solution...
But I did think about the design of my "cabinet" a little & I really would like to keep the "floating in air sensation". So instead of a cabinet I'm thinking of thick sheets of glass with holes in each of the 4 corners & then use metal pipes (with rubber washers where the glass meets metal) to hold everything together. Some different colored towels & some pretty glass jars to hold q-tips, cotton balls, etc would be nice. Maybe be able to get 2 shelves at least & maybe 3 depending on where the sink is attached to the wall.
Maybe even make a stand alone 4 (or more) shelf unit for more storage. There I could use my old post office metal boxes for make-up, shaving items, etc.
Maybe an old trunk (or reproduction) but not too big for toilet tissue, etc...
    Call it Industrial Chic...
@ Sav--I know. It's all about the sink. You have to build everything around the thing but I do think it's do-able!!

You are obviously a very creative person with the ability to think outside the box...Sounds outrageous. The only concern I would have is if the vanity would take away from the drama of that sink. It would almost seem you should have it alone on the wall, lit with two ceiling-mounted halogen spots aimed at each outer corner with Chariots of Fire playing in the background...WOW!

Also, make sure you use tempered safety glass if you go the glass vanity route....And take pictures...

It will be awhile before we even think of doing this. I want to tear down a wall to a closet to expand bathroom, want a stand alone glass surround shower, etc....
Everything is on the "back burner" till we can get the money saved for this. But my husband is going to start drafting & editing the plans next week & keep them safe till then.
I will definitely post pictures when this gets past the planning stage. I'm hoping it doesn't stay on the "back burner" for long. Talking to you has me wanting to do this right now!!
    I love stuff like this.
