You are entitled to that opinion. Frankly, it's all the same.

Sorry for the delay, but I was do darned tired last night I couldn't even think about editing and posting anything.

Progress is slow and not without interesting challenges...When we started breaking up the floor we realized there were TWO ceramic floors. The first was in a bed of 1 1/2" of concrete and the expected wire mesh. The second was in a thick layer of thinset. Made removing the floor that much harder and messier, but that is complete now and the new subfloor plywood is laid.

Here are a few pics. I will have a few more in the next reply....as well as the next disaster we found....

The builder had put in a modular bath/shower and a pretty well constructed one at that. As we were removing the greenboard from above on the wet wall side, I found a double-layer of rock???

Turns out that the wet wall (includes the water controls, drains, etc.) was apparently put in on a Friday afternoon after a long lunch at the local bar. It was out of plumb by almost 1 1/2" from bottom to top, only an 8' length!!!

Since this wall was planned to be tiled for the new tub, it had to be made plumb and the last pic in this set shows the gap caused by making the wall plumb.

We also found the floor under the tub is not level so that will have to be shimmed to make sure the tile lays evenly....

I do feel much less sore today, but I did manage to bang the cuticle edge of one of my fingers into a nail head and it bled like a stuck pig. I am guessing I might lose the nail.

    Fun times....

holy cow, just saw the photos. i viewed your reply when i was mobile the other day and didn't see the pics! that's quite a project you got going. it will all be worth it when finished though. its funny i used to hate doing things like that around the house but now i actually like doing them, learning how to do it, and like the feeling of accomplishment once i actually figure out what i'm doing and finish it.

i live on a golf course and built a deck at my house year before last. mainly so i could get an elevated surface to see over the hill behind the green and see the hole. built it up about 2.5' and thankfully the HOA hasn't measured that lol it took me forever but i still feel good everytime i sit on it and crack open a cold one.

here are a couple of pics

thanks buddy, it took a while. my wife was frustrated as hell with me, but in the end it was worth it! sadly though, my wood is already showing age because the golf course cannot seem to keep their sprinklers off of it. it's waterlogged everyday when i get home, i go through this with them every other month it seems

    1) Isn't that what a wife is supposed to do?
    2) Sucks about the sprinklers.
