Yahoo on 7100i
I just purchased a used Blackberry 7100i. the device did not come with Yahoo Messenger already installed so I attempted to install Yahoo messenger for her, on the device. I have installed, reinstalled, rebooted, uninstaller, reinstalled, rebooted etc. In options/advanced/applications. it shows the app, however it does not show up on the phone. I have checked Nextel download site and Blackberry site, both offer downloads of Yahoo Messenger 2.1.33. I noticed that the Yahoo messenger on my curve is 2.0.46. How do I make the yahoo messenger work on my wives phone?

Hi:
I am not familiar with the 7100i, but that never stopped me before!!!
Is it possible the icon is hidden on the desktop? In the icon menu > Menu button > select Show All
If not, is it possible there is an IT policy installed from the previous owner?
Options > Security Options > General Settings > Is anything listed under IT Policy Name?

Wow, Your everywhere :)
I have checked to show all on main screen. In secruity it says "Default" updated Feb 5 2008. I have done a handset wipe from phone and java loader, here is where I am at
I can not get Yahoo messenger to load on the phone. From this forum and others I have learned that I may need to use java loader to remove a module from a previous version of Yahoo messenger. this module is net_rim_yahoo_messenger. I downloaded and installed jl_cmder v1.9.0 and can take screen shots, see event log. It is my understanding that from my vista laptops DOS command line i need to go to the bin file and then type javaloader -u erase -f net_rim_yahoo_messenger to remove the module in questions. My issue is that once I get to my computers command line it will not allow me to switch to the "bin" by typing "bin" and enter. I do not have a lot of practice with my command line editor. What can I do to erase this module?
On a side note, I do not see the module in question in the module list located in options/Advanced Options/Applications/Modules

Hi xion:
So sorry it took so long to respond. I was pretending to have a life this weekend! I hope all is well with you my friend......
First, have you deleted all Yahoo modules from the handheld?
I suggest you begin by trying to delete the program through the application list:
Options > Advanced Options > Applications > Menu Button > Delete
If that can't be done:
Options > Advanced Options > Applications > Menu Button > Modules. Or you can scroll through to see the App and select it and the modules associated with the app will be displayed:
net_rim_yahoo_messenger
net_rim_yahoo_messenger-1
net_rim_bb_qm_yahoo_resource_en
net_rim_bb_qm_lib
Finally you may have to delete any Yahoo Service Books:
Options > Advanced Options > Service Book > Scroll through the lest looking for Yahoo stuff to delete.
All this should be followed by a healthy Hard Reset (battery pull).
Any luck now?

And here is a link on how to remove an IT Policy:
I also understand Yahoo Messenger may not work on the 7100 series. You might take a look at JiveTalk (now BeeJive). It appears to be the defacto favorite and works with most IM Clients. It isn't free, but it works extremely well. Give the trial a test run....If you like it, buy the portable license in case you change devices down the road.
You will need a BB Data Plan.
Keep us posted.....
