Desktop Manager Outlook Sync Issue
I did a search and did not find the solution.
I got my first blackberry last week (storm) but had 2 PDA's Phones before (Treo and XV6800/Mogul) both running Windows.
When I sync my Storm the pop up screen notifies me that it will delete 1xx calander ideas from Outlook. I have Desktop Manager set up for a 2-way sync. Transfer items 180 day prior to today and 365 days after today. Now why would it delete (from Outlook) anything before over 180 days? Is that because it is a 2-way sync? I generally make changes and additions to my calander from both my device and the computer and I do not want the wrong information to stay while the new updated information gets overwritten.
Also after I understand the above issue better is there a better way to sync or faster. I have 1000 contacts and the Desktop Manager checks everyone even though no changes have been made to them. I remember active sync just made the handful of changes which was faster.
Thanks

welcome aboard...
unknown to me what could be the issues with the calendar.
i do agree, it shouldn't be syncing every contact every time.. would also like to see a "fix" if there is one.

Hi and welcome to EB flyersfan76:
I do not use a Storm and I am on BES so all syncs are wireless and perhaps the selections are different. Where are you setting the 180 days before and 365 days in the future? I only see a setting to keep appointments for 15, 30, 60, 90 days or forever. Nothing about 180 days and nothing about 365 days in the future (didn't know that could be chosen). Again that could be a difference between BES and BIS.
Sounds like from your usage you need to maintain a two way sync, so that can't be changed. Do you have it set to have you confirm changes before they are completed so you can look to see what is being changed? Maybe it is a duplicate?
Regarding the checking of all contacts....If the system doesn't check them all how would the ones that are changed be identified?
While 1000 contacts are not that much it is substantial and it will take time. If you are accustomed to WM syncs it may just be their sync software runs faster. That I don't know.

First to all before and after. Thanks for the welcome. I first joined an "Everything*" board years ago when I bought my Treo and noticed a berry version. Sweet site.

Probably is the difference. I have not seen the ways you have done it.

From what I remember from ActiveSync I believe the 2-way sync will only make the device and the computer look the exactly the same but when there is a conflict the it takes the newest version of the entry. I have not tested this theory yet. I going to try to plug old phone into activesync and see what those settings are. They can't be that different.

I believe activesync checked them but only in the background. What I saw was 1/16 or whatever on the screen because that was the number I had changed or added.

I was actually shocked at the program doing this only because when I sync'd for the very first time I was amazed that it copied all the information so fast. Then I noticed it did it this way everytime. Probably not an issue as I want to get in the habit of only syncing once or twice a day.

I talked to CS. The only way for my sync to work the way that I wanted I have to sync all data. This way everything dating back to when I first used Outlook religiously will be mirrored on the device. Probably not a huge deal at this point until 10 years from now but the BB has a ton of storage compared to the other devices that I have used in the past.
Thanks
