Etisalat and Research in Motion today introduced the BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone -- the smallest and lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone -- in the United Arab Emirates. Etisalat and RIM will be showcasing the handset at Gulfcomms 2007.
The BlackBerry Curve strikes a perfect balance between work and leisure benefits, combining enhanced multimedia features with the proven and popular BlackBerry smartphone experience. With its liquid silver finish and chrome highlights, large display, easy-to-use keyboard and intuitive trackball navigation system, the BlackBerry Curve looks and performs great and makes it incredibly easy to stay connected to the people and information that matter most.
The BlackBerry Curve includes an ultra-bright 320x240 display that brings images and video to life and includes innovative light sensing technology that automatically adjusts backlighting levels for indoor, outdoor and dark environments.
This powerful smartphone comes with a 2 megapixel camera, complete with 5x digital zoom, built-in flash, self-portrait mirror and full screen viewfinder. Photos can be shared easily and instantly by email, MMS or BlackBerry Messenger and can also be transferred over Bluetooth or USB cable.
The BlackBerry Curve also includes the Roxio Media Manager for BlackBerry software, which allows users to easily search for media files on their computer, view and organize them, create MP3 music files from CDs, add audio tags, create playlists and automatically copy or convert pictures, music and videos for optimal playback on the BlackBerry Curve.
For added storage of music, videos and pictures, the BlackBerry Curve comes with a microSD expansion slot, which currently supports up to 4GB cards.
According to Essa Al Haddad, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat, "The launch of the new BlackBerry Curve smartphone will give mobile professionals a wonderfully designed and well-rounded device with new value added features, thereby adding to the popularity of the BlackBerry service here in the UAE, which already has widespread acceptance and adoption from enterprise customers throughout."
"The BlackBerry Curve is packed with new capabilities and offers a unique blend of communications, multimedia and web features. It is an exceptional choice for staying in touch with the information and people that matter most," said Charmaine Eggberry, Vice President and Managing Director of EMEA at Research In Motion.
The BlackBerry Curve will be available through all Etisalat retail outlets and also across 10 additional prominent retailers in the UAE.
