RIM Intros BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet

RIM today used Devcon to introduce the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, calling it the first true professional tablet. More details on the BlackBerry PlayBook as we get them. This is a big move for RIM, clearing aiming to take away or prevent Apple from gaining more business with the iPad. With a smaller 7″ display, the BlackBerry PlayBook might have broader appeal to mobile professionals, given the sheer portability of a tablet that size.

  • 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch display
  • webOS-like app switching
  • e-reader component
  • Full document editing
  • Ability to pair with BlackBerry phones.
  • BlackBerry PlayBook will support 1080p HDMI video and will have HDMI and USB ports
  • Features a front and rear HD camera configuration
  • Device will be just 9.7mm thick
